Livingstone Project

I visited Livingstone, Zambia in July 2009, although we hear via the news etc how little resources the locals have, I don’t think we can remotely have an understanding without actually experiencing it first hand.  It was such an incredible journey and I only wished that I could do something to make a difference.

I met a wonderful family out there who founded a school for those who lived too far to walk to the local school. After much discussion we decided that I could help the most by educating the parents about how to look after their children. For example; nutrition, hygiene, signs of illness, what action should be taken and when should they seek medical advice.

Often children die or get seriously ill due to their parents lack of knowledge and unfortunately taking them to the Doctor or hospital too late.

I’m planning a trip there early this year, I plan to stay as long as time allows in hope to educate as many parents as possible to help their children live a long life.

School on Wheels, Inc.

There are over 290,000 homeless children in California!  Among other key factors, children need stability and security to thrive and develop as they should. Not only do these children not have a home but some don't even have a school. Every child deserves an education and since 1993 School on Wheels has been helping facilitate this.

Emma now volunteers with School on Wheels helping tutor homeless children in the Los Angeles area. Click here to find out how you can help too: www.schoolonwheels.org
